About The Event
This race will be the 18th annual West Branch of the Susquehanna Wild Canoe/Kayak race. In 2005, the West Branch of the Susquehanna River was named “River of the Year”. Seven years later, National Geographic named it one of the “Best Adventure Destinations” in the world. This will be your chance to paddle the most scenic section of this river.
The race will start at the Rolling Stone Bridge just outside of Kylertown, Pa at 11 am and finish at the Karthaus Bridge in Karthaus, Pa. The race will be about 11 miles in length. This event may change due to water conditions.
Rules and Regulations:
1. Open Canoes will be categorized as “Standard” or “Unlimited” based on hull material.
2. Decking for open canoes is limited to 36” bow & stern.
3. “Splash rails” may extend no further than 1 ½ “ (One and one half inches) from hull of the canoe.

5. Open canoes must be propelled with single bladed paddles. Bent shafts are permissible in any class.
6. Helmets are encouraged for all racers, mandatory for kayaks.
The “Dice Race”:
The West Branch of the Susquehanna River Wild Canoe/Kayak racers in any class may opt to Roll Dice.
Roll Dice three times at Registration and two times at awards ceremony. High and low score will receive plaques.
Prize Drawing:
A random prize drawing will be held during the award ceremony. All racers are eligible to win. Pick up your tickets for the drawing at the registration table at the start (Rolling Stone Bridge) when you check in.
Pre-Race Food & Drinks:
There will be water and snacks available at the start line at Rolling Stone Bridge.
Post-Race Food & Drinks:
There will be Chicken BBQ dinners available after the race. You may purchase them at the registration.
Awards Ceremony:
The award ceremony will be held at the Karthaus Park on Market St, in Karthaus.
All racers must have a current USCA membership or purchase an event membership. All participants must sign waivers. Waivers will be at registration.
Pre-Registration will be accepted until
April 28, 2019. The first 10 participants to register before the day of the event will receive a free t-shirt.
Registration will start the day of the race at 8:30 am at the Rolling Stone Bridge.
We will have a shuttle bus to bring everyone back to the starting line. It will be leaving the finish line area no later than 10:30 am. Please try to be registered by 10 am so that you have time to take your vehicle to the finish line and ride the shuttle bus back to the starting point.
